Cromwell to Oamaru
I stayed down in the Old Cromwell part of town which turned out to be a little tourist attraction place around the corner from the pub where I was staying.
This old Masonic temple was built in 1900.

The old town of Cromwell

1975 Citron I like the looks of the old ones better.

This is a section of old rail line that they have turned into Rails to Trails for mountain bikers and hikers.

This is a little gravel farm road that I went down just for a look see.

tubes of wrapped bales.

They cut the grass or hay and leave it spread out in the field. This guy is tedding it into windrows.

just to the lower left is a huge high trestle that leads to the tunnel on this section of rails to trails.

it has been rather dry in this part of the country and a lot of it was brown which I like but the farmers and ranchers were hurting for feed and hay. I heard that some of them were shipping their cattle out to someplace where there was better feed available. Always seems like something of a bump in the road for farmers.

lots of tree hedges in this area.

A buck for a bag of pony shit and five bucks for a pine cone? Wow…..

I had to stop and check out this graveyard er cemetery.

This dead body house turns out to be a very very cool Pentagon / five sided stone building. Wow, this was just so very cool. My dad and I built a pentagon cook shack in Goldfield, Nevada and it was nowhere as cool as this.

A little info book put out by the library.

This is a double shot long black. The little pitcher is hot water to thin it down. It is amazingly strong just plain and I needed the water back after that little taste.

Nice to be back in Dunedin and staying at the Hogwartz hostel. They have gotten some of the restoration work done on this building.

I went upstairs in the library and checked out the display of old printings. Some of the photos came out ok and I have them posted here. truly fine work and I would imagine they were treasured much more than stuff that is printed today.

Gold leaf for this R

nice little typewriter that was made in NZ. I liked the little letter disc that prints. My mom had a IBM selectric that had a little ball with the letters and number on it and seems like it was a big NEW invention when it came out. Well, maybe it wasn’t that NEW of an inventon.. these kiwi’s seem to be ahead of us in a lot of things.

I took a quick photo in a sporting goods store to show the silencers on the end of the rifles here. I asked one of the clerks about it and he said it was best for shooting rabbits.

This is the steepest paved road in the WORLD. I had to make a run up it on the Kiwi dog. The first time up I went up in 2nd gear and the next time in first. Steep little bugger for sure but the bike did it easy.

going down was first gear for sure. Lots of folks hike up the hill but the bike ride is easier.

I took a ride u[ north of Dunedin along the coast mountains.

I left Dunedin and headed north toward Oamaru.

one of the balls broken up on the beach.

rolled into Oamaru and noticed this on one of the stone buildings.
