Past Auckland

I think this is a little better photo of that long view I took the other day looking down to the hot beach area.

wonderful roads in these hills.

some weed photos for Helen.

You might be able to see how the farm animals keep the jungle at bay in spots.

OK, here is a dead possum and you can see they are quite different than the opossums that are in the states, or at least the ones I have seen. The fur is very very soft and they mix it with wool. I think this one was on the road a litte too long for me to try eating this road kill.

Had to stop and check out this fat one with her little ones. The little ones are sure cute.

Clean and Tidy is the name of the game down here. almost no litter along the highways, and none on the back roads.

$190,00 for 3.3 acres??? Pricey eh?

This is an Udder Overpass I guess. These are coming

and going. Nice tunnel under the highway for them.

Notice the motorcycle race track that this guy has on his farm. Must have some boys that like to ride, er, maybe girls too?

as I got near Auckland and started getting into vegetable farms.

Cabbage field after picking.

Celery.

more cabbage in successive plantings.

Lots of onions grown here.

Nice big river with cool bridge over it.

Walter is Swiss and is a world traveler. I met him at the library in Helensville. He was camped out of town at a aquatic park where they had a hot pool as well as swimming pool. The hot pool sounded good until I saw it. Yuck.

his website. www.teneretraveler.ch supposed to be an English translation there.

The hot pool.

A photo of Walter’s bike at the campground. It is a 1985 and he bought it from a guy that rode it part way around the world. Now he goes around too.

He organized this Tenere event. He also rode across Mongolia. He said he was lucky to make it alive as he had the bike crash and the bike landed on top of him. Much like Dennis did on his ride across Mongolia. He was able to finally dig himself out after calming his panic attack. He was lucky as it seems most of the guys that successfully make it across are. Oh, he rode a bigger two cylinder Tenere on that ride.

his $1000 tent that he got for $600 in Las Vegas. I didn’t get a photo of it but it was nice. Three kilos he said and Made in Norway!!

I was sitting outside drinking a cup of Long Black when a guy comes up and invited me to this Hells Angles party or dice run. He sat down and we talked quite a while. He has been an Angle for 30 years and has been to a lot of the chapters around the world. He can’t come to the US or Canada now with the travel restrictions on Bad Guys. I doubt if I will be here or even if I was, not much interested in it.
