North End
All of a sudden I got into an area where they are building lots of these rock wells around the fields. There must have been a volcano around here to spread all these rocks. Some of the old rock walls were sure done nice, much like Old World craftsmen or Chinese. The Chinese built miles and miles of super nice rock fences in Northern California, after the railroads were built, out of the volcanic rock that litters the ground.

I had to rice back and get a picture of this tree in the field. What an incredible view, and a nice surprise as I came around the corner.

I stopped in at a library and posted the last doglog. They had these nice art works on the wall. This country is heavily populated by the Pacific Islanders as well as the Maori. The main population is short, brown and overweight.

The BEACH

The view of the headlands of Omapere bay that goes way back inland.

I will be crossing it on the ferry later today. It sure is interesting to see the sand on the rock hills.

The grapes are doing nicely here at the Backpacker lodge where I stayed.

There was a fuel truck on the ferry and we had to wait until he was done before loading.

nice sign.

Very cool old cannon.

Another Dog man.

I stopped in at a town and got a sandwich and was eating it outside on a bench where I had parked the kiwi dog on the sidewalk. This guy came up and must have talked ten minutes non stop about my motorcycle. As you can see he was a little ‘different’ but rather nice. I didn’t understand most of what he said.

I am getting up near the top end and could see this white sand beach. Looks almost like a snow bank.

A lot of the signs are in both languages.

THE END

Mile post zero, on the National number one highway. Either the End of the Road or Start, depends on how you look at it I guess.
