There is a really upscale winery along the highway and I stopped to check out what the grapes looked like. You can tell this is a high end place, as they have flowers at the end of the rows. Only the high buck places can afford this. Evidently there is a glut of grapes on the market and a lot of the new producers are running into trouble. That is spelled, $$$$$

The corn was sure looking good. On the south end of this island they were telling me that they couldn’t grow corn, as the season is too short. This is up near Blenheim so is at the north end of the south island.

Jeez, another darn train. Is anyone out there besides me getting tired of train photos?

The snout on this forge bellows has a water-cooling jacket on it.

I think this was for pit sawing lumber by hand. The sign says “large deal saw’

Another view of Aunt Sally.

They sure do ship out a lot of logs.

I walked down to the docks and saw this huge sailboat. I talked with some boat guys and they said that those long tubes on the front of the boat are sails that roll up or out, with the touch of a button.

More trains? Yeah, well this is the little yard dog that moves stuff around the dock area and probably loads and unloads the ferry.

A cute little Kiwi Rail dog eh? The windows are so dirty I couldn’t see the driver, er engineer.
