Puppies

I was just surfing around on the computer when I ran across a BMW R80G/S that needed a new home. You might have heard about dogs/puppies that are put up for Rescue when the owner has to get rid of them for one reason or another. Sheila has one of these ‘dogs’. Actually she calls it a dawog. The former owner had it DNA tested and it came out that it actually is a DOG.  I loaded up Sheila as well as her animal in the truck and headed down to Georgia to see this ‘rescue’ motorcycle. I have several of these bikes and for some reason I felt I needed another one. You cant have TOO many motorcycles. Ask around, it is true!!
Here he is telling me that he needs to stop and pee.

His name is Low Down Dirty Dog… quite a name eh?

Here is a rest area in Tennessee that we stopped at and he got to take a walk and pee. Darn leaves are sure colorful… too damn many trees to see where you are and where you are going. I get real closed in feeling back east in these trees.

We made it to the Boxerworks and Nathan wheeled out the pup and I took it for a spin. I have to say here that the new puppy had already gotten a new name by Micah. I told him that I was going down to get it and he said that it should be Georgia Peanut or something. So ‘Peanut’ is what it is. Dang, I never even got a collar on it and it was already named. The bike is a 1986 that has over $20,000 in parts and labor added on to the bike that the owner wanted built up for a planned trip down to South America. He died before he got a chance to make the trip. I may have to make a page just for the bike as the add-ons make quite a list.

I was looking for a nice dirt road and found this bridge on the road I found.

Back at the shop, Nathan showed off his R80G/S which is ridden hard and put away wet. Not washed much either.

some views around the shop.

Out front is the Ducati division which he just sold that day, to someone that was going to move it to another location.

That is my truck with the bike loaded in the window. Sort of looks like a picture on the wall.

Peanut rode well on the way home to Sheila’s house.

It had turned cold and I just caught Sheila splitting some wood with the Texas dog watching. She doesn’t have a door wide enough to get a bike in the kitchen, so they have to stay outside. Oh, she is burning oak and walnut mostly. They don’t burn pine in this country. They pile that pine up in the field and burn it.

Sheila made a nice supper of her home grown heirloom potatoes, bell peppers and tomatoes along with some pork and local eggs. Yummy, you bet!!!

Our friend Glenn stopped by and gave me a ride in his ;61 Chevy.

It rides like a huge heavy Detroit iron sled and that little six cylinder engine sure sounds sweet. Lots of room under that hood and I could identify all the parts. Simple eh?

I was headed home when a guy pulling a boat passed me. I have never seen an outboard motor quite like this one. I guess it is made for the shallow lakes and swamps around here. I like the air cooled motor and twin pipes.

I stopped in to see my buddy Bill Shockley. He invited a few friends over so I could meet them and I made some pizza dough and we made food for the folks. Here Bill is rolling out the dough while Heidi his lady friend looks on.

Down in the basement was Bill’s old BMW R80ST motorcycle that he has ridden down to the end of South America as well as many miles in the USA and Canada. He had decided that he was going to sell it to make more room in the shop. OH, another Rescue Puppy? Yup, and I now own another motorcycle. That makes an even dozen………

This is Bill’s ride now. He rode it across Russia, Mongolia and on thru Europe, as well as a major tour down in Mexico/Honduras this last winter.

Three puppies loaded and headed home.

I just opened the gate and looks like no traffic on my road up to the doghouse since the snow last night.

Everything was just fine when I got out and looked around in the morning. Dang, it sure is time to think about heading down under to New Z for the winter. I looked at the weather report for Nelson, NZ and it said it was mid 70's during the day and 50 at night. Is that the Kiwi dog I hear yipping down under?
