CheckinVendors

They towed or drove the race cars through the vendor stations to the check in station. It was a nice serpent route and plenty of time to visit with the public. They were a really nice bunch of guys, both drives and their crews.

This is a trophy truck class rig. It is actually only been used as a pre runner this time. Supposed to be around five hundred thousand or more invested in this rig.

I talked with the owner of this car. He says that little pump down there is an oil scavenger. It is modified to run as a dry sump engine.

spare driveline and axle

the air is used for air jacks or air wrenches to run up a jack and on the wheel nuts.

All TIG welding done on these rigs. Some of these welds are perfect. One guys said they get all the stuff cut out and fitted and the TIG guy comes in and welds it all up in no time. The old saying on stick welders was the good ones could stop their heart if they needed to make a perfect weld. I think the TIG guys do the same.

These axles had holes drilled down the middle and then honed to a polish. They then heat treat them and that way the axle is stronger because it has more heat treatment.

This is the real farm truck, one of the half million dollar ones.

The drives and navigators had to check in their helmets and fire proof suits. The helmets are good for ten years they said. crash or no crash.
All helmets have air hose attachments. They also have intercom between them and a neck gator to keep out the dust.
