NV2MC

It was getting a little hot down in Quartzite and I figured it must be getting nice up in Nevada about now. I was going through somewhere around Bull Head City and saw this farmer out weeding/furrowing his corn field.

This is one of the big solar power generating plants near Boulder City.

There is no fence keeping the ‘kids’ off the huge dry lake along side the highway.

I stopped in to see a Tom in Indian Springs. Tom always has new cool stuff and this time he had a Mercedes V12 sedan that he picked up really cheap. He was just so proud of it he had to start it up and let me hear it. Amazing !!! He sure likes it and offered me a ride. We went out of town a few miles and he turned around and had me drive it back. When I pushed the throttle down to the floor……ZOOOOOOM  >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>  WOW, what a thrill.

I rode out to Silver Peak and stopped in at one of the watering holes for cattle. I found this interesting corral made from pipe and old pallets.

I just love the bare hills around here.

This is the road down into Clayton Valley or more commonly known as Silver Peak town way down there. They pump out water in those big lakes and evaporate the water off and collect Lithium from the concentrate. We all need Lithium now for our batteries.

I stopped at Bum’s house and walked in and got bit by his old 12 year old dog….. Grrrrrr…. …. Remind me to carry a pistol when in Nevada….

The Bum had just traded his 68 Harley with sidecar off and bought this 1951 Nimbus

The lightest 750cc bike made in its time. Four cylinders and cool strap iron/steel frame.

The bike only had six thousand miles on it when he got it and now has 10K miles. These are long running machines and should last him a while.

Bum took me in the shop and showed me the little lathe he restored from the junk pile out back from where he works.

Bum and his whole family were into Indian motorcycles, Bum kept this one and it is scheduled to get a new top end soon.

Bum and  Christine’s Harleys. They are both serious riders and put lots of miles on their bikes.

Bum took me for a ride and it sure does ride nice. I was amazed at the power it has but I guess it has low gears for the hack. I am sure it would be a wee bit faster than my R50 with its sidecar….. but you never know until we get them out and try them out… J

Check out the cool exhaust final.

He likes it.

Ken in the door of his house he built. He doesn’t look too much in favor of the camera pointed at him.

A Trooper that lives across the street from Ken. There will be a dog log soon, that will talk about rigs like this, and what they can do. Stay tuned for BIG news.

The White mountains are three ranges over there with the snow on top.

My neighbor Bob who lives across the street from me in Goldfield, was willing to go with me for a ride. Here we are on the pass from Gem Field over Montezuma. When Bob showed up with that riding gear on, I told him that I didn’t want to go where you have to wear all that gladiator stuff. He says he wears all that stuff no matter where he rides. Hummm, I still think I don’t want to go where he goes.

There were very few flowers out, but I did catch these little ones hugging the ground.

These pole line roads are always fun.

The old Lime Kiln at Montezuma.

We hauled ass across this flat with the Joshua trees. These roads are just wonderful as there is no traffic and the county has been busy grading the roads to keep them open. The thought is that if they keep the roads open, the BLM (The Enemy) won’t be able to keep us off of them. The damn BLM doesn’t do squat here but want to control everything. Almost everyone in Nevada hates THEM…..  with good reason.

These are fun little roads. Bob says that it is rare to ever see anyone on them other than the rancher. Actually he and Tom ride days at a time and never see anyone. The Nevada back country is a dream, if you like getting out where there are no people.

I only say a few Indian paint brush plants.

I went back over to Silver Peak and was very pleased to meet up with Erick. Both Kenny and Erick are Ken Polmans sons, and when Ken passed away, I was lucky enough to acquire his boys as mine. I actually have three boys as I count Sam as my son too. I am a lucky guy to have three great sons and never had to change a diaper.

A little storm was moving in while I hit the road to Montana. I just love the open feeling that Nevada gives me. As you can tell, I love the high desert.

The road goes on forever and the party never ends….. (a very cool song that my buddy Joe plays and sings for me now and then).

The mountains up near Ely sure got a dose of snow this year.

Fred sure looking good waiting for some engine work that should be done soon.

Not sure if you remember the photo of the doghouse all snowed in with a huge drift going up to it from the dog log I posted when I came back from New Zealand.  Now the grass is starting to grow and the doghouse just welcomed me back. AH, GOOD TO BE BACK HOME.
