Down the Adriatic coast
This guy pulled into the campground and unhooked the trailer. While his wife moved the car ahead he took a little remote control and backed the trailer into position. I saw someone do this before so it must be common. The other guy didn’t have remote control but had a cord with a switch to control it.

I had a flat on one of my sandals. Better the sandal than my tire.

There was a lot of vegetable farming along the road as I headed south. There were all size farms and they were growing a wide variety of veggies. They were growing a lot of corn and different varieties of grain crops. I saw quite a few young plants growing in these tunnel greenhouses in the fields.

There was a nice field of asperagras growing nest to a field that was covered with the black plastic. There was a crew getting ready to uncover the mounds. I am not sure why they do this unless it is to kill the weeds under the plastic and they can then plant in sterile soil.

they have opened the tunnels for these plants.

cool little Honda eh?

I had been seeing lots of fields of these red poppies and finally figured out that they are growing them for poppy seed.

I stopped and got a photo of these fishing shacks that have a setup for lowering and raising these nets. I saw some smaller one along the Rhine River but these are bigger and more of them.

The trucks are different here too. Notice the long overhang on the tongue of the fifth wheel. The axles are moved more forward and I guess it balances the load mor3e as the trucks have only one driver axle.

I stopped at one campground and the guy said it was closed for cleaning. He said the tourist season doesn’t start until July. I am riding along the Adriatic Sea coast and the beaches were almost empty as you can see from this photo of tables and chairs set out at a venue.

While riding through a town I happened to see this part of a castle or some sort of defense works. They sure don’t make it easy to find a place to pull off the road to take photos. They don’t have pull offs anywhere but I they do have wider shoulders on the road then in Switzerland where there was no extra room at all. Down here I am finally getting the feel for the way motorcycle guys ride. It is almost like South America but with SPEED allowed. Those Ducatti’s just blast past me and I will have to admit that I have been passed by a lot of scooters. Jeez, there are hundreds of the scooters from the little slow 125cc to ones that just haul ass. The thing I like best of the rules is that when you come up to a line of cars waiting for a light or some other problem, you can just pass them all and go to the front of the line. I gotta be on my toes as when the light just starts to turn green, they are gone and leave me in the dust and smoke. Passing is allowed almost all the time and the drives hold to the right and that gives you room to pass. Almost everyone drives on the right side to give motorcycles and scooters the room to pass. It just makes more sense to handle traffic this way.

I was riding along and this is the first photo I have attempted to take while riding at speed. This church?? Is huge and I think the tree orchard is olives.
