To Bonners Ferry

I left Yak campground and headed over to Bonners Ferry where a good friend used to live that I knew from when my girls were over in Bishop, California going to school. It sure sounded like a neat area and when I got to town there was a big car show going on in town. They had the whole town blocked off and it was full of neat rods, custom cars and restored old ones.

This little red 1929 roadster pickup is like my first car that I just sold about five years ago. Mine sure didn’t look like this one but I sure did get a lot of miles out of it when I was a kid.

I had never seen a Maple Leaf as they were Canadian. It is close to Canada here.

I had to take a photo of this Bug Eye Sprite for Uncle Mike…..

nice lines eh?

A large engine in this little car.

The guy on the left used this little car to race in pikes peak. He was racing against the big money boys and didn’t win but he said that at least he could race back then when things didn’t cost so much.

they were playing old hot rod movies for the event.

There was a little farmers market going on the edge of things so I walked over to check it out. I was looking at some plants when a woman came up to me and asked if I was Rex Mongold……… well, “Are you Patty Burlingame?” wow, it was Patty and Vern who I have not seen for maybe 15 years or so. How they recognized an old geezer like me is beyond me, but what a wonderful surprise!!!

Vern is building a house outside of town.

they let me stay in their little camp trailer which was easier than setting up my tent for the night.

This is Vern’s chicken house in the first 2/3 rds and the back 1/3 is for pigeons.

The bunny hutch…. Yumm, yumm….

Vern

Patty played the viola for me.
