To Yak
This is going to have to be a quick dog log as I am on the road and wanting
to ride. I am in Burns, Oregon at the library that has wifi so I am going to
take advantage of it and send out this mostly photo dog log.
Colorado Ken showed up the day before I left and he is riding his Plastic Wonder
bike……. So far he likes it……..J

The country is bright green. We rode to Bob and Anne’s place where Ken split
off and headed on south.

I stayed the night at Bob and Anne’s place and took off the next morning for
Bozeman. I stopped in at Big Timber and checked in with Sam. His house is coming
along very nicely and I am really thrilled at how nice a job his is doing on
remodeling and making is energy efficient. He is making the school that he works
at energy efficient too. He told me that he is saving the school over a thousand
dollars a month with a new program. Wow!!!
I rode on over to Bozeman in a light rain and finally hooked up with Erick who
is my friends Ken (since deceased) and Trish son who was born on a mountain top
in Nevada. Susan was a helper midwife on that project…..so I have known Erick
almost all his life. We haven’t made contact for several years but now we are
together again. Erick has turned out to be quite a mountain man in his own
right. He climbs snow and ice covered mountains with these skis (with skins) and
then bolts the snow board back together again and skis down the steep slope.
Amazing…..

here is Erick frying up some elk stakes for supper.

several friends came by after supper for a visit. They have been watching the
coyote pups down in Yellowstone Park on some sort of project.

Erick and his girlfriend. This photo was taken on Montezuma Peak near where he
was born. I have not met her yet as she is down in Nevada now doing a bird
project.

I left Bozeman and headed up to Arlee where Micah lives. This little Allis
Chalmers allcrop 60 like I had was out in a field not used anymore.

When I got to Micah’s place I spent the night and the next day he lined me out
to take a day ride over the hill and up and around Flathead lake. Wow, what a
nice day ride.

I saw several log home builders along the way.

The Flathead area is famous for their cherries.

This is Jen and she just got back from a ride on her new horse. She does
endurance rides and I am sure is a serious about it.

She is using these horse shoes rather than nailing on a iron shoe.

Nice views around their place.

Micah has this little yellow beast in the garage. He is still young enough to enjoy this kind of thing.

We took off and headed up to the north western corner of Montana to a little
town of Yak. Along the way I saw this building with the homsteader yellow rose
along with the rare red rose. I have seen a few of the red roses but mostly I
only see the yellow ones.

Micah said my brake light was not working and said we should stop at his friend
Waylon’s place which we did. Waylon works out of his home on vehicles and it
didn’t take him long to find that it was the switch that was not working
right. He got it working but recommends I get it replaced as soon as possible.
(order one for me Bob)……

It was a great ride up to Yak.

There was some serious water coming down this falls.

I have to eat some lunch and then hit the road…..
