Y Dog, Keith, High Line, Banana farm
I was reading the BMW owners magazine and came upon an article about this guy who is an old geezer that is going around the world on three wheels. He has an amazing website with lot of really good photos with comments. I have traveled some of those same roads and it was really nice to see those places again. This is his time line page…http://www.thetimelessride.com/US/LC/Timeline.html
Click on any place and you will go to a page that has photos of the area. I recommend hitting Peru…. and then Cuzco…. I stayed at the same hotel. That should give you an idea of his adventure style.

The main thing is that he is using a R100GSPD that is like my Yellow Dog. When I called the Dauntless sidecar owner and quizzed him about using a bike with a 21” front wheel, he said it was No problem. So I decided to take the R80ST off and mount the sidecar on the Yellow Dog.

As you can see from this photo, it is a Big hit with the younger crowd. The boy here is driving the sidecar and the girl is hanging on.

What a beautiful pair eh?

Keith showed up at the Bluegrass music festival on his new to him Whiner (K100S). Keith was on his way down to see his mother in Colorado. We listened to the music while catching up on where we each have been over the summer.

On Keith’s return ride, we met up in Red Lodge. The next day we rode up north toward Grass Range. One thing about these Eastern Montana roads is that they are in really good shape and almost no traffic. I was riding the R80ST and I really like the way it handles.

We stopped at a high point for a look around. The wheat has all been harvested and the straw baled up in big round bales.

This is Big Sky country and in the distance is the Snowy mountains.

Nice long straight roads let a guy have a chance to have a good look around the area. It sure is nice to not have a bunch of dang trees blocking the view.

I liked this view of the strip farming coming right up to the bench.

Grass Range in the little down town park where I got a quick nap in.

We met this dog limping along up the road and called her over for pets and Keith drew her some water from the hydrant. She has a major thick coat and I am sure it will come in handy this winter.
I saw the dog a little later up at the gas station where she was begging for food. It always helps to be packing a hurt leg when begging.

I took off north for the High Line road and Keith headed west to his home in Helena.

A nice little dip in the highway.

I was in total wheat field country and liked how this old homestead had tried to hid itself from the wind.

This is downtown Richey. Wheat is king here for sure.

Well, maybe some oil/gas helps the economy too.

There are some big farms here.

They have a covered ground storage system much like what I saw down in Austraila.

I camped the night at the Sleeping Buffalo Hot Springs campground. I remember from the last time I camped there, that the mosquito population was high. It was the same this time. A tent is worth every penny on a night like that. It was not supposed to rain so I just set up the tent without the rain fly and was glad I did as the stars were amazing with no moon.
I went from Wolf Point down to Glendive partly on a gravel road to check out how the ST likes the gravel. It sure isn’t as good on gravel as the GS’s are but I found if I just loosened up and let it float, it did ok which is much like the R90/6 does. I got down to Glendive and found these flowers outside of a friends place. I decided to take a picture of them as this might be the last of the Montana flower pictures I will be able to take. Winter is in the air, and we all can feel it.

This is something you don’t see every day.

The wind was just howling on this day and you can see that it was very nice inside and so very quiet too.

This is Micah, Scott’s boy doing some tile work in the shower.

One of the bedrooms. I sure like the detail of the lights on the wall.

I sure like the bottle walls.

A small garden out in the greenhouse area.

The architect gave them two banana trees so now this is an official ‘Agricultural Endeavor’ and I am sure will get some sort of BIG tax break.

The ‘Farm’…..

You probably can’t tell from this photo but the Yellowstone River is just out the door and down the hill.

The sun is starting to get lower in the sky and this is sure going to be a nifty place on those cold winter sunny days. And especially nice to just walk out and pick a banana…….J

I walked over and checked out Tucker and Glenna’s project. They have been busy working on pouring cement flooring.
