I am still at the Red Snapper RV park (or should I say I am
still parked in the street across from) and have been having a very nice time.

There are several folks that are leaving today, so yesterday there was a lot of
taking of photos of new friends. This is Patty and she just had to have a photo
of my camp, with her in it. This is not a normal situation here folks. The
Dezert Dog has a 'dry' camp.

This is Patty’s husband Bob talking with the ‘Fisherman Guru’ Robert Rein.
Actually I don’t know that they are talking fishing, but it is just a
normal scene around here. Everybody is so laid back and stop to visit. It is
amazing the variety of folks here and probably everywhere if we had time to stop
and visit with them.

This is Mimi and Patty with a local camp dog. Mimi and Jonna have a couple of
really nice dogs but they have to be on a line because dogs are not allowed in
the Talapi which serves as a small restaurant/bar and mostly just a general
hangout meeting place.

The www.baddog.com
girls will be pulling out today and I am writing this page in this big talapa.
The ocean breezes come through and it is a wonderful place.
I snapped a photo of their satellite internet system yesterday afternoon.
This system is portable, but some are attached permanently to the roof of
RV’s. Jonna said that they run about $1800 for the portable model like this.
At first the satallite outfits didn't want you to move them but the demand was
so strong that now there are at least three companies that sell the tripod
manual set up models and ? number of the hard mounted rood top RV
companies.

There is an interesting man I met here that is from Prince Edward Isle. He has an internet service company and he is on the cutting edge of all this internet stuff. When he and Jonna get together and talking tech stuff it is just so interesting to be the fly on the wall and watch them bounce stuff off each other. I don’t get much of what they are talking, but I think I get some of the main ideas. Kevin has a grand plan of getting the entire PEI island connected by wifi. He is going to try to put a package together and present it to the Government. He is forward looking and has the drive and energy and hopefully the ‘luck’ to get something done.
I walked uptown yesterday. The town really is just about five blocks with little shops in every block. Each block has what we would call a mini mart with usually a small slection of vegetables. It doesn’t seem like there could be enough business for more than one little store but they seem somehow to survive. There are a few little gift trinket shops and several bars and one small hotel.
I was going by the town square when I noticed a guy had a horse laying in the street. I guess he told the horse to be ‘dead horse’ much like we teach that to a dog. The horse would lay there very still but once in a while he would lift his head and the guy would reassure that everything was OK. The guys little girl of maybe two came over and crawled all over the horse. The guy just gently talked to the horse telling it everything was fine. I could tell that there was a lot of trust between these two. He finally told the little girls to leave and then asked the horse to get up which it did. He really likes this horse. He took the horse to the little equipment trailer that was parked there and asked him to get in. It was all done with respect and trust.
He then untied another horse and asked it to run in place. I guess you could call it prance in place. it was beautiful. I was telling Jonna about it and she said that there was a festival here and at the next town church a bit ago where the cowboys showed up on their horses and pranced them and did fancy tricks on them. I wish I had been here to see that.
Since so many campers were leaving today, they had sort of
a party last night. There were lots of chips and
dips and good conversation.

That is Kevin (from Prince Edward Isle) with his guitar. It
is always great to have live music
but as usual in a party situation it seem like
everyone has to try to talk louder to he heard over the music. Kevin is going to
take his guitar and go to Ireland and play with some very good musicians over
there. They hope to put out a pro quality CD of mostly instrumental stuff. I
told him I want one when it gets done. I don’t know much about guitars but
this one was a nice one.

So, there
isn’t a lot to report on. I have been just hanging out and enjoying
some company for a few days. I am charged $2 /day for the use of the
shower and toilet and the Talapi. Another big point is that I have been enjoying
the internet connection provided by Jonna and Mimi. I guess the ocean swimming
is wonderful part of it too. the temperature is just perfect 80 degrees or so.
The fisherman said that a week ago a shift in the wind brought in 78 degree
water from the 82 degree water that was here. That changed the fishing and
the color of the water. it is now getting warmer and clearing up to the
crystal clear blue which it normally is.
I guess I better get this sent off and get out there for my
morning swim.
