Hot well / Bike show

I needed to get out for a little backcountry ride, so I found a back road over to the Powder River not far south of my place. What a wonderful ride and since it had been dry, the road was nice to travel. I could tell it gets really slippery when it gets wet. I went through this old homestead and really liked this cabin with a TV. Wow, connected to the world way out  here.

After looking at the following photo I see things have not changed a lot over the years for some of us. I have fiber-optic, blazing fast, computer hook up and larger windows, but appropriate size for simple, comfortable living.........
Getting up and down the trail to my doghouse has been a little slippery too. I found some broken pieces of concrete and am using them for paving stones. It sure makes it a lot easier and cleaner to get to the cabin.

Mark Weeding knows the owners of a hot well north of Miles City and offered to take me up there for a ride to check it out. The paved roads around here are really nice and the rides in the spring with the new green grass and baby calves sure make  a wonderful ride.

After we got near the area we finally got on dirt roads, which are sure, a lot more fun than that pavement. I was hot dogging it here taking pictures while riding and ended up in a ditch on my side when I hit a deep rut in the trail. I was going slowly so no damage was done. The dirt was rather soft as there has been some rain in the area.

WOW!!!

I there are several hundred gallons a minute that come out of this old well. It was originally drilled looking for oil but hit this hot water that I think comes out at 180 F.  That is so near boiling that I would imagine you could cook in it rather easy.

There used to be a couple of small cabins that were used for bath houses. They had several of these old cast iron claw footbath tubs in them. The steam and high humidity rusted out the nails and they collapsed. The tubs remain.

The hot water sure has some mineral in it and it makes beautiful formations in the run off.

Last weekend I rode over to Glendive to see the bike show. They always have this early bike  show and as usual it was  mostly Harleys all chromed up and waxed. I walk by the Harleys looking for something different  and unusual.

This was an interesting chopper. It is a 750cc Honda with an automatic two speed transmission. They didn’t make many of these and it sure is unusual to find one made into a chopper. It sure was nicely done.

Terry Hanson finally got one of these Cushman scooters. They sure are a nice simple little machine. Folks have gone  around the world on these. There is really no need for our big dual sport bikes other then for those of  us that like a little more comfort and speed.

The only Harley I found at the show that I would like to ride. It is a 175cc.

Well, I guess I would take this old dog for a spin if given the chance.

A few lines of ink should bring this chick some luck eh?

They give you a little ticket that you are supposed to vote on your favorite bike in the show. This is the one I gave my vote to. It is a 350cc Honda and just a nice simple bike.

I walked out in the parking lot and found this guy making some smoke. A real crowd pleaser…….

Back at the doghouse I now have the neighbors cows in to eat some of the nice new green grass. They do like  to keep track of what I am up to and here are a few that are watching what I am doing on the front porch of my dog house.

These hunks of concrete are darn heavy. I have been working out at the college gym and that sure has helped but after moving these around I sure do get sore. Some of them are too big and I have to break them  up first with a ten pound sledge.
