Last Cars

Not sure why they have this here other than they used the wind power to grind grain? They were giving it a wash down with a high pressure sprayer to keep the crud from growing on it I think.

Unspoiled beach? Doesn’t look like it eh?

I sure like this sign coming into to the little town of Bulls.

I had just pulled into town and found the rally headquarters. This dude pulled in next to me and his wife got out and went in to get signed up.

When she came back out I helped her into the car and noticed this on the bottom of the inside door frame. Man they went all out on these old cars for the rich folks eh? Opening and closing the door on this car was something completely different than any car I have ever tried before. Wow, what a well made machine.

Lots of folks just riding around having a good time.

They had the rally at a convention center I think but there was this strange room that I walked into and asked the lady what it was. She said that a lot of the water in town doesn’t taste good so they have a bore that they truck water from and bring it to town where they sell it here. So, I said that she must be a bar tender for water? She liked that and I had her pose for this photo.

Just tooling around and it sure did sound great!

I met this guy downtown and had a nice visit with him. I sure like the unrestored ones and this one was for sure one of those. It is a good runner too. I asked about the starter/generator on it and asked if he would start it for me. The starter is gear or toothed belt driven and is silent when it turns over the motor. As soon as the motor starts, it then starts making electricity to charge the system. We talked about a lot of things and one I remember is that he said that he ate lots of possums. Most folks just trap then for the fur or hide, or even just poison them as they are a pest, but he says that they are really good to eat. I have never seen them on a menue or in the store.

Cruse down main street.

I met this couple while waiting for the ferry to load up. He said that this car was made to look like a small Rolls Royce and was a very expensive car when it was made. It cost about twice what a normal car this size would cost. It is extremely well made and drives very well. They were so expensive that they didn’t sell well. I met them here in town again and was pleased to be able to take the photos of the car as I didn’t have my camera with me when I met them before. He told me that the generator went out on the car and were able to get another one for it from the car club here for $10. wow, how cool is that to get parts on the road for something as rare and old as this for ten bucks? He said the car club had lots of parts and they just want to keep the cars on the road. And it does look like a Rolls when going down the road as I passed it. Small but MIGHTY.
