Westport to Harihari
The town of Westport is really nice. About ten blocks long and all the shops are filled and the town is alive. NO Wal-Mart closing things down here.

I took a ride out to the harbor entrance and seems like a favorite fishing area for the locals.

Nice little protected beach for kids to have fun.

I went to the museum and really liked some of the displays they have there.

This is a big coal mining area and they have some of the best anthracite coal mined. They still do and I guess they say it is the best coking coal anywhere. They ship it to China now as well as a few other places that need that coke coal.

I had to take a photo of this for Craig Whitley, it is a steam powered trip hammer and it is huge.

it cost 50 cents to have a motor start up and run this pump for about five minutes. Truly cool to see all that brass and steel moving.

walking around down town I found this on the sidewalk…. Sounds good eh?

LOTS and lots of rain looks like made this river rather muddy and wide.

I pulled into this little town for a cupa joe and helped this guy unload this bike. They were having some sort of sidewalk sale days. He came over and visited with me for quite a while. He works over in OZ driving truck as a person can make so much more money over there. He has been to the US last year and this year he will bring his wife along. I gave him my card and maybe they will stop by and see me on the way through.

Hey Keith!!! If you get right up to the tracks you can see the sign that says that the warning lights are NOT operational. I am glad that little motorhome was parked in front of me. I didn’t hear him bleat his horn, if he has one.

I had to ride up to Waiuta again as the road is fantastic.

Met these guys up there as they are on a Morris car club drive.

I visited with this guy about his car for a while. It was registered as an 8 hp car for English tax purposes. He says it is really about 48 hp.

more and more cars kept showing up and they were really nice people. They liked the BMW I ride too.

A couple of photos of the super neat road going in. you can see how those little roadsters would like it too.

I was told to go to BlackBall and stay the night at the BladkBall Hilton. It was New Years eve and they were going to have live music but I needed to get on down to Harihari where my friend Peter was going to play the night.

This is a BIG union town and I photoed the info on it. Seems like a lot like Butte, Montana except they are still mining coal here.

Rebel flag was well as a Jolly Roger skull and cross bones…. Bike in the front yard too……

Looks OK eh? Turned out to be a really high class deal and NOT a clothing optional place. J

Mountains and lakes

I finally made it to Harihari and find it is a very famous place.
